weed blower
Got to express myself for a minute- Don't you think the leaf blower does a great job of symbolizing where our modern culture is headed?
Much money and time is spent nicing up personal areas with a leaf blower.
The filth and weeds are simply blown into the next person's area or into the street.
Nothing is disposed of properly, and the apathy shown toward any and all neighbors is huge.
...Just so your little wiener dog can play freely in a clean yard, as long as the coyotes and wolves don't get him!
But that's another topic for some other time- MORE LOVE.

down in austin
Just got back from first visit to Austin- Got a few 45s that really made it worthwhile-
Got to enjoy Polvos, Freddies, Continental Club, Stubb’s Gospel BBQ, and Hammond soul in the Continental Club’s gallery upstairs.
Dined wholesomely on hippystyle Mexican food at Mother’s and Mr. Natural- pure food that makes you feel good, and BBQ at Iron Works, floats, fries and shakes at Fran’s Drive In.
Featured beers were Lone Star, Pearl Light and Negro Modelo, and Heineken and Spaten in the studio (local produce was good too). We laid down several new rythms to tape over two evenings-
Finished mixes soon to be forthcoming-
Dropped by KOOP FM and appeared on Art Baker's show, and started each morning at Jo's right next to Austin Motel.
Here are some 45s found in Texas augmented by a couple of Ron Balls’ deadly 45s, and some Luther Johnson cuts that were done with Muddy Water’s Band.
Soulful blues and bluesy soul for together people-
Might be too funky forya-

tony lowe showcase
Strong digital showcase from under-rated youthman vocalis Tony Lowe-
One artiste who only appeared on wax for a few years or so-
Presented with vocal cuts alongside their respective dubs for maximum dancehall pleasure. Familiar riddims include "Live And Learn" cut as a digital steppers riddim, voiced as "Double Mouth Shark" by Tony Lowe. The artiste also rides atop "Mr. Bassie": this one is an obvious answer record to "Teach The Youth", sporting a merciless lyric about a petty thief who stole Tony's entire wardrobe off the line.
LINE STEPPER LYRICS

ME COULD’NT BELIEVE
ME COULDN’T BELIEVE
I’M A LONE COWBOY LIVING IN TOWN

skylarking
Skylarking, skylarking
That's what youths do today
Skylarking, skylarking
Before they stand up firm on their feet
Get a little work, a little work
And earn their bread honestly
Begging you a five cent, sir
Begging you a ten cent, sir
Cannot help, no, cannot help
So if you keep on doing what you all are doing
You will end up, up up in jail

MLK
What is most striking to me about Dr. King is how he gave of himself. He was a giver.
Max Romeo did this one on his Reconstruction LP for Mango, quite a statement during the height of Burning Spear's celebration of Marcus Garvey's legacy.
I have extended the tune with a piece of itself to create a five and a half minute version that is great for radio or the conscious part of a dance this weekend.

JUNIOR DEMUS MEGA SHOWCASE
The gravel voice deejay aka Conrad McNish has a humor and grittiness that draws the listener in- Here he appears in showcase style over 9 very decent riddims.
Junior Demus is a legend in Jamaica and a fixture in NY dancehall: once when I was at Don One's in Brooklyn, Demus and his entourage walked in with a case of bottled roots tonic ready to put about ten tune on acetate. Jr Demus was warm and joked that stress can kill you and you "can't hold it in or it will give you cancer- Let it out!"

COLD CONCRETE
This one goes out to all Haitians with love and hope-The situation in Haiti is terrible and it does not make sense that such a beautiful place and people should feel so much pain for so very long.
Help or contribute any way you can-

Yabby You- gone but not forgotten
Trinity rides a flyers cut of "Sweat For You Baby" for Yabby You's Prophet imprint.
Got to be the Soul Syndicate!
Much has been made of Yabby You, a dread who was surrounded by rasta and constantly preaching about Christ. I once asked Bassie from the Gladiators if Yabby You was a rasta man or what- Bassie said "He is a Christian who love Jesus Christ!!"
Looks like Prince Tony put this one out for Yabby, retitled with different art.
The booming baritone vocal of Alric Forbes is strikingly heavy on A and B sides mixed by Scratch at Black Ark. It is also known as "Run Come Rally" and seems to be based on the ancient anthem "Sinking Sands", cut by many many artistes over the years under variations of both titles.
Big respect to Yabby You (1946-2010) and the Vivian Jackson Family.
